The NERDC scheme is no longer a PDF on someone's phone. Upload syllabi once, see every topic by class and week, and track what was actually taught — with the same topic names the exam will use.
01 · The challenge
Every school has an official syllabus, but it usually lives as a dusty book in the principal's office or a massive PDF forwarded on WhatsApp that teachers rarely open. Instead, teachers write their own schemes of work in notebooks, and the schemes begin to drift.
A topic like "Equations" is taught in JSS2A in week 3, JSS2B in week 5, and JSS2C skips it entirely because the teacher was sick for a week and ran out of time. At the end of the term, the academic committee asks every teacher "Have you covered the syllabus?" and the answers are always vague — "We are on track," or "We are almost done." Nobody actually knows if the SSS3 Chemistry class is ready for WAEC until the mock results show massive gaps.
02 · How Marksheet provides the solution
Marksheet helps schools organise their curriculum, keep track of what has been taught and manage lesson notes in one place. The system supports curriculum content aligned with NERDC references while also allowing schools to manage their own curriculum information.
The school can have its curriculum organised by subject and class level. Teachers can then follow the curriculum as they teach throughout the term. As lessons are completed, teachers can mark topics as taught, giving the school a clearer picture of how much of the curriculum has been covered and what remains.
Syllabuses can also be uploaded and organised so that teachers have a structured reference for what they are expected to teach.
03 · How it helps the school
Better curriculum planning: Teachers have a clearer view of what they are expected to teach.
Track teaching progress: School administrators can see whether topics are being covered during the term.
More organised lesson preparation: Lesson notes and syllabus information can be managed within the school system.
Greater accountability: Class-captain verification provides an additional check on recorded teaching progress.
AI-assisted preparation: Teachers can get assistance when preparing lesson notes.
In simple terms: Marksheet helps the school know what should be taught, what has been taught, and keeps teachers' lesson preparation organised along the way.
